Allow me to introduce myself

Hello! I’m Michelle. I've spent more than a decade operating & investing in consumer tech, but I’m also a creative at heart and currently work with several companies across the arts + hospitality industries.

Pattern Recognition is about reconsidering traditional left-brain / right-brain boundaries. It’s for creators and entrepreneurs (design and data enthusiasts) because I believe a shared intuition for identifying and recontextualizing patterns inspires both.

This newsletter is decidedly anti-niche, an attempt to unpack what's shaping society by looking across industries and geographies. But mostly, it’s a catalogue of my taste + hot takes on design, culture, and business.

Brooklyn is my happy place and hosting is my love language, so I think of Pattern Recognition as my dream neighborhood restaurant — the kind of place where you’re ordering the entire menu, having everything to share, and getting an occasional side of life advice.

Fun facts: I am a Certified Sherry Wine Specialist, investor in Margot, and host of a supper series inspired by seasonal ingredients and rotating global cuisines. And I think the rare case of a Comparative Literature grad turned Harvard MBA, who has worked across fashion, finance, healthcare, hospitality, and tech.

The latest and greatest

For now, Pattern Recognition is a reader-supported publication and a venture studio while I’m exploring something new. Paid subscriptions help ensure the future of this project and grant you full access to the archives, along with all new posts delivered fresh to your inbox.

If you’re enjoying my work, please share with your friends and lovers and consider pledging your support today! Thanks for being here.
